Working on an island can have its limitations and Flat/Stack/Fold is a design challenge in response to a growing call for products that can be manufactured and transported with minimal environmental impact. Tasmanian design has been carving a niche for itself, and Flat/Stack/Fold began in 2009, encouraging designers to consider creating innovative solutions to the design of products and objects that can be flat-packed, stacked or folded.
This exhibition at the Design Centre in Launceston, curated by Rye Dunsmuir, sees the culmination of the project and features the resulting prototypes and concept developments created by emerging and established Tasmanian practitioners.
